Psalms 137 & 139

MAIN IDEA || God's people find the comfort they need in both knowing him and being known by him.

Fil-In Notes:

1. Feeling alone while we’re hurting is fairly common.

a. How might it help someone to discover that God has an infinite knowledge of every intimate detail of their being.
b. How could you remind yourself daily that you are living within the literal presence of God (even while hurting)?

2. Can you think of any reasons that help us understand why we might resist praying a prayer like this?

Psalm 139:23-24 NLT
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

3. Jesus’s “robes of righteousness” allows us to open ourselves afresh to the God who searches and knows us, that he may again search and know us.

a. Are you willing to share any “offensive way” that you’ve ever asked God (past or present) to remove from your heart, your mind or your life?
